The Signals

Your body is in constant conversation. Signals move between cells, between systems, and between you and the world around you, shaping how you feel, how you adapt, and how you heal.

But how the body responds depends on its environment and everything it has experienced before. No two people are the same, so the same treatment can mean something different in your body than in someone else’s.

For people living with chronic Lyme and tick-borne illness, mold and environmentally acquired illness, Long COVID, and ME/CFS, that conversation gets more complicated. Infection, toxic exposures, inflammation, and a nervous system stuck in defense all add their own signals, making the healing cycle harder to complete.

Interviews and conversations with medicine's most innovative minds pioneering research and treatment for chronic illness.

Joel Kahn, MD

Joel Kahn, MD

Dr. Kahn explores how disrupted signaling between the heart and nervous system can influence blood flow, inflammation, autonomic function, and chronic illness.

Cathleen King, DPT

Cathleen King, DPT

Dr. King explores how patterns of fear, attention, and response can amplify symptoms, reinforce stress physiology, and influence the path toward recovery.

Tobin Zivon

Tobin Zivon

Tobin Zivon explores how chronic illness changes relationships, revealing how emotional patterns, intimacy, and connection can influence the experience of healing.

Nafysa Parpia, ND

Nafysa Parpia, ND

Dr. Parpia reveals critical gaps in Lyme disease diagnosis, examining overlooked factors, personalized treatment approaches, and the five fundamental triggers behind chronic illness progression.

Eric Gordon, MD

Eric Gordon, MD

Dr. Gordon explores Craniocervical Instability in chronic illness, why doctors miss it, how it causes mysterious symptoms, and its connection to autonomic dysfunction.

Jamie Kunkle, ND

Jamie Kunkle, ND

Dr. Kunkle examines how Chinese medicine reads the whole person to identify disharmony patterns that drive chronic illness across multiple systems.

Pacha K’anchay, Taita (Indigenous Healer)

Pacha K’anchay, Taita (Indigenous Healer)

Pacha K’anchay shares ancient tribal wisdom on sacred plant medicines and explores plant-based healing frameworks within indigenous medical traditions.

Alex Howard

Alex Howard

Alex Howard shares his RESET framework for identifying triggers, reprogramming stress responses, and restoring the body’s innate capacity for healing.

Deanna Hansen

Deanna Hansen

Deanna Hansen examines how fascial compression from trauma disrupts the body’s cellular communication system and blocks the healing signal.

Navaz Habib, DC

Navaz Habib, DC

Dr. Habib explores how vagal signaling regulates immune activity, influences chronic inflammation, and helps the body cycle through the Cell Danger Response.

Jason Prall

Jason Prall

Jason Prall details how nervous system safety, play, and purpose form a critical framework for chronic illness recovery.

Nathalie Niddam

Nathalie Niddam

Nathalie Niddam examines the distinctions between peptides and bioregulators and how signaling molecules transform recovery in chronic illness care.

Joshua Leisk

Joshua Leisk

Joshua Leisk maps how toxic metal burdens and nutrient deficiencies constrain glycolysis and glycogen storage, driving chronic fatigue and immune failure.

Ashley Ondrick

Ashley Ondrick

Ashley Ondrick discusses how MCAS, mold, Lyme, and craniocervical instability shaped a profound journey toward mind-body-spirit healing.

Kiran Krishnan

Kiran Krishnan

Kiran Krishnan examines how gut microbiome signaling molecules, gases, and short chain fatty acids drive systemic inflammation in chronic illness.

Fleet Maull, PhD, CMP-T

Fleet Maull, PhD, CMP-T

Fleet Maul details how training attention through full-body awareness reshapes neural architecture and supports healing in chronic illness.

Paniz Jasbi, PhD

Paniz Jasbi, PhD

Paniz Jasbi details why metabolites offer the most sensitive and specific readout of cellular physiology in chronic and complex disease.

Anil Rama, MD

Anil Rama, MD

Dr. Rama examines why standard sleep studies miss upper airway resistance syndrome and how untreated arousals damage the brain over time.

Darin Ingels, ND

Darin Ingels, ND

Dr. Ingels explains how botanical medicine targets multiple systems while preserving the microbiome in patients with tick-borne and chronic illness.

Alex Egerter, DO

Alex Egerter, DO

Dr. Egerter shares how neurotherapy and nerve blocks reset maladaptive nervous system patterns driving chronic illness and CCI symptoms.

Michael Roesslein

Michael Roesslein

Michael Roesslein discusses why each person’s nervous system signals differently and how building awareness of those patterns creates lasting regulation.

Aimie Apigian, MD, MS, MPH

Aimie Apigian, MD, MS, MPH

Dr. Apigian examines how the nervous system’s state signals every cell in the body and how stored trauma disrupts that signal.

a new approach for chronic illness

The Cell & The Signal: Nervous System, Psyche, and the Architecture of Healing looks at the body as a communication network, exploring the many different ways our cells receive and respond to signals. We’re bringing together clinicians, researchers, and innovative thinkers from different areas of medicine to go deeper into how metabolites, peptides, light, energy, the nervous system, and even our thoughts are part of that conversation.

We’re bringing together clinicians, researchers, and innovative thinkers from different areas of medicine to go deeper into how metabolites, peptides, light, energy, the nervous system, and even our thoughts are part of that conversation.

We learned to divide the body into parts so we could study it, but the body is one system. Instead of only asking what’s wrong, we’ll ask what the body is hearing, and how it’s answering.

your hosts
